Vinyasa Yoga ~ Sundays 10:30 - 12:00 PM - All Levels
Dave’s rocking all-levels vinyasa classes balance heat and coolness, effort and relaxation, firmness and tenderness. Sweat-producing asana sequences soften the body’s tight areas, cleanse the energy pathways and unblock the chakras. The result? A release into equanimity and a discovery of the tranquil, eternal inner spirit buried under the mind’s sometimes distracting daily chatter.
ABOUT DAVE
Dave has been involved in physical pursuits all his life. In childhood and adolescence he was a competitive swimmer and tennis player. In college he found non-competitive running, which he pursued for more than a decade. In his early thirties, a severe back injury – a result of mild weight lifting – led him to give up running and take up yoga. He practiced Ashtanga and Birkam yoga for roughly seven years. He drifted from his practice when his back flared up again, but continued to exercise regularly. Years later, beset with office-job-related injuries, he took up Pilates, which he studied for three years. It cured his ailments. With his body thus tuned, Dave recently found his way back to yoga. In August 2009 he completed the 200-hour Yoga Tree teacher training. He is a certified yoga teacher and a member of the Yoga Alliance. “Yoga is a complete practice that addresses physical, mental, emotional, and especially spiritual issues,” Dave says. “Half the practice is learning how to back off and let the pose, breath and body tell you what to do, rather than vice versa.”
